The Dakota State University softball team steps out of the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) play on Thursday afternoon. The Trojans play their final regular season road doubleheader at Mount Marty. The non-conference doubleheader will start at 4 p.m. at the Riverside Park in Yankton, S.D.
Dakota State snapped their 10-game losing streak on Monday, April 25. The Trojans defeated Black Hills State 10-1 in five innings for their first DAC win of the season. DSU lost the second game to the Yellow Jackets 6-2. DSU's current record is 12-19 and 1-13 in the DAC conference.
Mount Marty, a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, began their 12-game home stand in a span of one week on Tuesday (April 26). The Lancers suffered a sweep from Dordt (IA) and dropped their overall record to 7-19 and 6-10 in the GPAC conference. Mount Marty are scheduled to play Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday, Dakota State Thursday, Concordia (Neb.) Saturday, University of Sioux Falls Sunday and College of St. Mary Monday.
The Lancers took three of four games from Dakota State last season. Mount Marty took both games from the Trojans on March 29, 2010 in Yankton, S.D. by the scores of 9-2 and 5-0. Both teams split their two games on April 15, 2010 in Madison, S.D. with the Lancers winning the first game 9-6. DSU won the second game 9-1 in six innings.
