MADISON, S.D. - Anyelo Roman of Dakota State University baseball team earned weekly honor in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL), announced earlier this week. Roman is playing for Seacoast Mavericks during the summer.
Roman went 11-for-20 (.550) in five games last week. He also added two doubles, ten runs scored, four home runs and nine runs batted in (RBI). As a result, Roman's numbers displayed one of the best week in the history of FCBL.
On June 22, Roman belted two home runs to pace the Mavericks' offense against Wachusett. He went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home through seven innings before being suspended due to darkness versus Martha's Vineyard Sharks on June 23.
Roman, who will be a senior next season, had a stellar spring at Dakota State as he was named to the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) All-Conference first team. He broke the DSU school record in three different categories in a single season - most hits (70), RBIs (55) and home runs (17). Dakota State captured the A.I.I. Baseball Conference Tournament runner-ups and qualified for the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round for the first time in school history.
Anyelo's brother - Rays - also play in the FCBL. He currently plays for North Shore Navigators.
Anyelo is the son of Manuel and Ramona Roman of Lowell, Mass.
