The Dakota State University softball team steps out of the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) play as they travel to Vermillion, S.D. on Tuesday afternoon. The Trojans visit the University of South Dakota in a non-conference doubleheader at Nygaard Field. The first game is slated to start at 4 p.m.
Dakota State is 11-12 overall record and 0-8 in the DAC conference. The Trojans went 2-6 during the week of April 4-10. DSU suffered a sweep at University of Sioux Falls (9-4 and 9-7) on April 5. Dakota State won their first two home games of the season against Presentation (S.D.) on April 6 (16-2 and 6-1). The Trojans dropped a home four-game series with Mayville State last Saturday (8-7 and 9-3) and Sunday (15-4 and 15-4).
University of South Dakota is currently on a six-game losing streak. The Coyotes' current record is 12-25 and 0-6 in the Great West Conference. USD's last doubleheader was at the University of Minnesota on April 9. The Gophers shut down the Coyotes by the scores of 3-0 and 5-0. USD's last wins were on March 30 as they swept DAC's fellow Jamestown in Vermillion.
DSU and USD met on April 13, 2010 in their last meeting in Vermillion. The Coyotes swept the Trojans 9-1 and 11-2.
