Robert "Dusty" Andersen Memorial Award
The Robert "Dusty" Andersen Memorial Award is presented in memory of Dusty to the outstanding athlete in baseball or basketball.
Dusty Andersen participated and lettered in basketball and baseball (1966-1969). Dusty was very active in campus activities, including President of the Varsity Club, Student Senate member, a member of the Dakota State College Band, and the Physical Education Major's Club. Dusty was lost to Dakota State and Friends in an automobile accident homecoming evening 1969.
Luke Lamb (2013)
Luke Lamb was this year's recipient for the Dusty Andersen award for his outstanding accomplishment in men's basketball. He has served as an integral member of the men's basketball team that captured two straight Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Division II Men's basketball Postseason Tournament Championships and participated in two consecutive NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament.
The Trojans advanced to the NAIA's 'Elite Eight' this past March for the first time since 1992. In addition, Dakota State recorded their most victories (24) in Trojan Men's Basketball school record book.
Lamb's career records include 97 3-pointers, which put him at the seventh most in the DSU men's basketball record book for career 3-point field goals made. He averaged 11.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, and has a 41 percent field goal and 85.1 percent free-throw percentage this season.
His performances earned him A.I.I. All-Tournament Team, A.I.I. All-Conference First Team and NAIA All-American Honorable Mention.
Luke is the son of Kathy Lamb of Altoona, Iowa. He is a senior Business Management/Marketing major at Dakota State University.
