The Robert "Dusty" Andersen Memorial Award is presented in memory of Dusty to the outstanding athlete in baseball or basketball.
Dusty Andersen participated and lettered in basketball and baseball (1966-1969). Dusty was very active in campus activities, including President of the Varsity Club, Student Senate member, a member of the Dakota State College Band, and the Physical Education Major's Club. Dusty was lost to Dakota State and Friends in an automobile accident homecoming evening 1969.
Jordan Snyder (2014)
Jordan Snyder was this year's recipient for the Dusty Andersen award for his outstanding accomplishment in men's basketball. He returned to the Trojan men's basketball team after a year of absence for military trailing and played in 22 games, averaging 5.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in his senior season.
Snyder posted his career-best 62.1 percent from the field, making 41 field goals in 66 attempts. He helped the Trojans advance to the first-ever North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Postseason Championship game.
Snyder was an integral member of the DSU men's basketball team that won the first-ever Association of Independent Institutions Men's Basketball Postseason Tournament Championships, and advanced to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament for the first time since 1992.
Snyder finished his career with 4.2 points (345 career points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Trojans.
Jordan is the son of Jayson and Lana Snyder of Hartford, S.D. He is a senior Business Administration at Dakota State University.
