Two DSU Runners Compete in Midland Lutheran College Half-Marathon
(Madison, SD) - Two Dakota State University runners, Suzanne Swett and DSU alum Chris Heezen competed at the Midland Lutheran College Half-Marathon Meet last Saturday in Fremont, SD.
Swett, junior from Platte, SD, finished 20th with a time of 1:35.55. The NAIA new standards have not been released yet, but from last year’s qualification standards, she would meet the NAIA Provisional Standard for qualification to nationals in women’s marathon. The NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet will be held in Edwardsville, IL, just outside of St. Louis, MO on May 21-23, 2009. Suzanne is the daughter of Richard and Barbara Swett and majors in Physical Science at Dakota State University.
Heezen ran unattached at the half-marathon meet and finished third with a time of 1:08.05. It was a 50 seconds improvement from his previous time at the same meet last year. Heezen is the son of Jerry and Peggy Heezen of Miller, SD and is a Exercise Science major at Dakota State University.
