Van Peursem, Drealan and Mack earn DAC Cross Country Postseason Honors
November 10, 2009
After the completion of the DAC Championship meet, two runners and a head coach from Dakota State had been selected in DAC's Cross Country postseason honors.
Tyler Van Peursem had been named to DAC's Most Valuable Runner. He claimed the DAC's individual title with a time of 27 minutes and 29.09 seconds. Tyler is the son of Kevin and Shelly Van Peursem of Sioux Falls, S.D.
Anthony Drealan was selected by the DAC's head coaches as the Most Outstanding Senior runner. Drealan placed third in the DAC Championship meet in 27:41.91. Anthony is the son of Wayne and Heidi Drealan of Fulda, Minn.
The DAC head coaches had selected Dakota State's Trent Mack as DAC's Male Coach of the Year. He led his men's cross country to its first ever DAC conference title in school history, and first since 1996 when the Trojans won the former SDIC conference. The Trojans had been in the NAIA "Top 25" rankings nearly every ranking throughout the season.
The Trojans' men claimed the DAC Conference Championship Friday. Dakota State has earned an automatic bid as a team to the NAIA Cross Country National Championships to be held on Saturday, Nov. 21st in Vancouver, Wash.
