FB: Trojans lose to Jamestown Saturday

JAMESTOWN, N.D. - The Dakota State University football team traveled to Jamestown Saturday to attempt for their first win of the season. The Trojans scored first, but suffered a 55-21 defeat to Jamestown at the Rollie Greeno Field.
The Trojans scored their first points of the game in the first quarter. The Jimmies opened their drive with a fumble from Josh Ewalt and was recovered by Trojan Blake Schlagel at the Jamestown's 30-yard line. Paul Bagala threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Eric Farrer to make it 6-0 Trojans. Stacey Berg's PAT was good to make it 7-0 DSU.
Jamestown cut the deficit to 7-3 on Jimmie's 32-yard field goal from Nate Nygard in the first quarter.
The Jimmies outscored the Trojans 28-0 in the second quarter to take a 31-7 halftime lead.
Dakota State and Jamestown combined for 35 points in the third quarter. The Jimmies added three points in the fourth quarter.
Bagala went 26-for-45 for 266 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions for DSU. He threw touchdown passes to Stacey Berg and Derek Spangler in the third quarter. Farrer had four receptions for 72 yards. Austen Hanten added three catches for 51 yards and Berg had four catches for 45 yards.
Drew Allen rushed 12 times for 31 yards for the Trojans.
Mike Beehler threw six touchdown passes in the game. He finished the game with 23-for-31 with 411 yards. Three Jimmies recorded 100 plus receiving yards. Matt Wilson had eight catches for 133 yards with two touchdowns. Josh Ewalt added six receptions for 130 yards with two touchdowns. Max Boe had four catches for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Eric Liles and Joe Whealy each had nine tackles for the Trojans. Whealy had an interception and returned for three yards.
Dakota State will return home for their next two games. The Trojans will host Dickinson State in a DAC Conference game at the Trojan Field on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 1:30 p.m.
