DSU men's runners claim 16th place at NAIA Cross Country National Championships

VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Dakota State University men's cross country team earned an automatic bid as a team to run in the NAIA Cross Country National Championships Saturday. The meet was held at the Fort Vancouver National Historical Site, hosted by Cascade Collegiate Conference and Concordia (Ore.) University.
The Trojan men's runners captured 16th place out of 32 teams with 439 points. Malone (Ohio) claimed the NAIA Cross Country National Championships team title. There was a total of 323 runners in the race.
The course was muddy caused by steady rain in Vancouver, Wash. in the past few days.
Anthony Drealan earned NAIA All-American honor as he finished 25th with a time of 25 minutes and 46 seconds. Devon Berkness placed 74th with a time of 26:22. Matt Fideler came in 127th in 26:43 and Tyler Van Peursem finished 154th with a time of 26:57.
Ben Harrison came in 199th in 27:26. Andrew Manning finished 250th with a time of 28:00 and John Bintliff came in 282nd in 28:46.
The Trojans concluded their history-making 2009 campaign with a No. 19 spot in the final NAIA Men's Cross Country National Poll. DSU also captured their first ever DAC Men's Cross Country title in Rapid City, S.D. on November 6th.
