Mustangs defeat DSU in Trojans' men's basketball exhibition game

MARSHALL, Minn. - The Dakota State University men's basketball played their second exhibition game of the season as they faced Southwest Minnesota State, a NCAA Division II team, Wednesday. The Mustangs defeated the Trojans 82-47 at R/A Facility.

With the win Southwest Minnesota State, No. 15 in the latest NCAA Division II, to a 4-0 overall record. Dakota State remained 4-3 on the season.

The Mustangs build a 19-8 lead in the first 10 minutes and extended the advantage to a 41-14 halftime lead.

Derek Kreutzfeldt led the Trojans with 18 points on a 5-for-10 shooting from the field and 6-for-7 at the charity stripe. Bryce Snyder recorded a double-double with 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Jackson Parr added 11 points.

Trent Carlson came off the bench with 18 points for the Mustangs. He shot 5-for-11 from the field, including 4-for-10 shooting from the 3-point line and 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Nick Dale added 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Dalston Jones and Scott Roehl each scored 13 points off the bench.

The Mustangs shot 41.1 percent from the field compared to the Trojans' 28.1 percent.

Dakota State will play their third exhibition game of the season on Wednesday, Dec. 2nd. The Trojans will travel to USD DakotaDome in Vermillion, S.D. to take on NCAA Division I University of South Dakota at 7 p.m.
