VB: Trojans go 0-2 in North Dakota

The Dakota State University volleyball team could not get a win in North Dakota. The Trojans suffered defeats from Dickinson State Saturday afternoon and Minot State Friday night. DSU fell in a three-way tie for sixth in the DAC Conference with a 3-8 conference record and 8-15 overall.
Dickinson State 3, Dakota State 1
Dickinson State took the opening set with a score of 25-21. The Trojans would tie it at 1-1 with a 25-22 second set win. The Blue Hawks won a tight third set by two points, 25-23. Dickinson State took the fourth set by a score of 25-18 for a 3-1 match win over the Trojans.
Rachael Jensen led the Trojans' offense with 16 kills. Margie Anthony added 10 kills. Mati Salva recorded 40 set assists.
Jensen had 21 digs for the Trojans. Stephanie Kruggel recorded 17 digs. Katie Green and Shelby Tollefson each had 15 digs. Ashley Schulte and Vicki Kaul each had three block assists.
Stephanie Uher had three service aces. Kruggel added two service aces.
Minot State 3, Dakota State 0
Minot State swept the Trojans in three sets, 25-17, 25-13, 25-21.
Anthony had six kills for Dakota State. Jensen added four kills and 13 digs. Salva recorded 17 set assists.
Kaul had three blocks assists and Kruggel added two block assists.
The Beavers out-hit the Trojans 42-21 and .262 to .100.
Dakota State will try to bounce back as they host their in-state rival University of Sioux Falls Tuesday night. There will be a "Dig Pink" event to be held at the DSU Fieldhouse. Activities include silent auction and door prizes will begin at 6 p.m. First serve is slated at 7 p.m.
