Women's Basketball: DSU snaps four-game losing streak in win over Saints

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Dakota State University women's basketball continued their action on the road Saturday night. The Trojans visited NCAA Division III Presentation College at the Strode Center. DSU took control from the beginning to the end of the game as the Trojans defeated the Saints 86-61.

The win snapped the Trojan's four-game losing streak to raise their overall record to 3-4. PC remained winless in three games.

DSU sparked a 23-8 opening run and expanded to a 46-26 halftime lead. The Trojans had their largest lead of the game at 75-45 with 8:58 left in regulation.

Alyssa Kirk and Katie Bourk each had 14 points for the Trojans. Donna Lavea and Lashonda Martin each scored 12 points. Bourk, Martin and Kirk combined for 13 assists. Angela Green had eight boards and Bourk grabbed seven rebounds.

Sara Gregersen had 16 points for PC. Meghan Schmidt added 12 points and Lindsey Johnson had 11 points. Becky Smith grabbed eight rebounds.

DSU shot 50 percent from the field compared to Saints' 38.2 percent. The Trojans won the rebounding battle, 36-29.

The Trojans return home Monday as they host NCAA Division II Wayne State College. The non-conference game will be held at the DSU Fieldhouse at 5:30 p.m.
