WBK: DSU upsets NCAA D-II University of Nebraska-Kearney 63-62

KEARNEY, Neb. - The Dakota State University women's basketball faced University of Nebraska-Kearney, a NCAA Division II school. The Trojans held a 34-31 halftime advantage and went on to defeat the Lopers by a single point 63-62 at the Health & Sports Center.

Unfortunately, the win won't count toward the Trojans' overall record as the game was counted as an exhibition game. DSU remained 3-5 on the season and then Lopers dropped to 0-4.

DSU Angela Green made three free throws in the final 1:27 of the game and the Trojans held on for the win.

All nine Trojans players scored at least three points. Alyssa Kirk led the offense with 16 points. Ellesse Washington added 13 points. Four Trojans players had five rebounds.

Debi Johnson scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Lopers. Kelsey Lane added 11 points and Vanessa Leeper had 10 points.

DSU outshot the Lopers 46.8 percent to 37.1 percent. Both teams had 35 rebounds. The Trojans committed 26 turnovers to the Lopers' 19.

The Trojans will open their DAC conference season on Saturday, Dec. 5th as they host their traveling partner Mayville State. Tip-off is slated at 4 p.m. at the DSU Fieldhouse.
