Lavea named DAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Donna LaveaThe Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) has selected Trojan Donna Lavea as women's basketball player of the week.

Lavea, senior center from Christchurch, New Zealand, had three consecutive double-doubles as the Trojans went 2-1 for the week.  In the three contests, she scored 44 points (14.7 points per game), grabbed 32 rebounds (10.7 rebounds per game) and added eight blocked shots (2.7 blocked shots per game), three steals (1.0 steals per game) and one assist (0.3 assists per game).

For the week, Lavea went 21-for-34 from the field.

According to NAIA DakStats statistical website, Lavea ranks 18th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (3.7), 22nd in field goal percentage (52.4) and 39th in blocks per game (1.3).

Donna is the daughter of Silei Lavea.  She majors in Physical Education at Dakota State University.

Dakota State (6-7 overall record, 1-0 DAC) returns to DAC Conference action this weekend.  The Trojans will host nationally ranked Minot State on Friday at 5:30 p.m.  On Saturday, DSU will host Dickinson State at 4 p.m.  All games will be at the DSU Fieldhouse.
