DSU picked to finish third in DAC baseball preseason poll

January 28, 2010

DICKINSON, N.D. - Jamestown College is the preseason pick in the 2010 Dakota Athletic Conference Baseball Coaches' Preseason Poll.

The Jimmies, who won the DAC tournament and advanced to the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament, picked up four first-place votes to top the poll.  Defending regular season DAC conference champion Dickinson State garnered the remaining top picks to finish second.  Dakota State is third in the poll, followed by Minot State and Mayville State.  Valley City State, who saw their 2009 season shortened due to flooding, finished sixth.

The Trojans will open their 2010 campaign participating in the Metrodome Classic on Feb. 24th-25th.  DSU will face Kansas Wesleyan on Feb. 24th and Dordt on Feb. 25th.  The Trojans will host Valley City State in a four-game series on the opening DAC conference weekend of April 2nd and 3rd at the Flynn Field.

Dakota State went 20-21 overall record last season and 5-7 in the DAC Conference.  The Trojans placed fourth in the conference standings, but finished third in the DAC Postseason tournament.

The poll was conducted by the Dakota Athletic Conference.
