Lavea tabbed as DAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Donna LaveaThe Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) has tabbed Dakota State's Donna Lavea as conference women's basketball player of the week.  This is her second time this season that she had received this honor.

Lavea, native of Christchurch, New Zealand, scored 44 points (22.0 per game), grabbed 16 rebounds (8.0 per game) and added six assists (3.0 per game) and a blocked shot (0.5 per game) as the Trojans split a pair of conference games.  For the week, she was 17-of-27 from the field and 10-of-14 from the free throw line.

According to NAIA DakStats statistical website as of Feb. 1st, Lavea ranks 10th in the nation in field goal percentage (54.9), 26th in offensive rebounds per game (3.4), 28th in blocks per game (1.5) and 33rd in total blocks (30).

Donna is the daughter of Silei Lavea.  She is a senior Physical Education major at Dakota State University.

Dakota State (8-12 overall, 3-5 DAC) heads to North Dakota this weekend for a pair of DAC conference games.  The Trojans will face Dickinson State on Friday night in Dickinson, N.D. at 6:30 p.m. (CT)/5:30 p.m. (MT).  DSU will travel to Minot, N.D. on Saturday to take on Minot State at 4 p.m.
