Dakota State Trojan Football:  Dakota State announces 2010 Recruiting Class

February 3, 2010

Dakota State University head football coach Josh Anderson is proud to announce the 2010 Trojan recruiting class. The class consists of 23 outstanding athletes from South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota and Arizona.

This year’s recruiting class is Anderson’s second, but also represents the first year his entire staff was involved during the entire process. “We made a huge commitment to locate and recruit the best athletes in the local high schools, which includes most of South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. We will also continue to use our connections in Arizona as long as we continue to have a high level of interest. The amount of local student-athletes that have signed is a direct attribute to the efforts of high school coaches, as well as our DSU coaches taking the time and effort to develop those connections.

Our current athletes, community and alumni have expressed a great amount of excitement about the caliber of athletes that have committed from the area schools. We are very optimistic about the talent we have signed and will continue to sign in the near future. With the high-character upper classmen that have stayed committed, as well as last season’s talented freshman class, we feel this recruiting class will step in and add immediate depth and competition, which will continue to push our program in the right direction,” said Anderson.

DSU returns 53 for the spring semester and will look to continue adding recruits until they fill their roster needs. Coach Anderson would like to see the final numbers for the 2010 fall camp around 85-100 athletes. “It’s important that we take these first two years to fill our roster with top quality athletes so that we can start establishing a red-shirt program. I want to be at a point where only a handful of true freshmen are expected to be a part of the 2-deep depth chart, and I believe we are only one year away from that happening,” according to Anderson.
