DSU Trojan Football signs three recruits
February 16, 2010
The Dakota State University head football coach Josh Anderson is proud to announce three letter-of-intents to join Trojan Football team this fall. They are Keith Knudsen, Alec Mataya and Travis Bird.
Knudsen, 5'11" and 180 lbs. defensive back, comes from McCook Central/Montrose High School. He was coached by Ryan Evans. He was awarded All-Conference, Special Teams most valuable player and team captain. He lettered in basketball and track and earned defensive most valuable player and team captain. Knudsen qualified for the state meet in the 300-meter hurdles. He earned Academic All-State, honor roll and is a member of the National Honor Society. Keith is the son of Karl and Deanna Knudsen of Salem, S.D. He plans to major in biology at Dakota State University.
Mataya, 6'1" and 175 lbs. defensive back, will graduate from West Central High School this spring. He played under Coach Kent Mueller. Mataya earned Most Improved football player, Hardest Working game and practice player honors.
He also lettered in baseball and track. Alec is the son of Brett and Crista Jensen of Hartford, S.D. and plans to major in Graphic Design at DSU.
Bird, 6'1" and 195 lbs. linebacker, comes from Boise High School in Boise, Idaho. He was coached under Bob Clark. He was named the Boise High Football Defensive Player of the Year and team captain. He was selected to play in the Idaho Shrine All-Star game. Bird also lettered in golf and track. He earned Academic All-Conference, ISHAA citizenship award and was listed on the honor roll. Travis the son of Eddie and Tina Bird and plans to major in Business Management at Dakota State University.
