DSU Indoor Track & Field prepares for DAC Championships this weekend

February 18, 2010

The Trojan women's and men's indoor track and field teams are preparing for the DAC Championship meet this weekend in Spearfish, S.D.  The meet will be held at Donald E. Young Gymnasium on the campus of Black Hills State University.

Black Hills State is the defending DAC Champions in 2009 on the women's side.  Lacking the depth to cover all the events in team scoring, the Trojans will attempt to finish in the top two in many of the individual events making the meet very competitive, according to head women's track coach Trent Mack.

Dickinson State won the men's title last year at the DAC Championship meet.  The meet should feature a good battle for second place in the team standings.  The Trojans have a strong depth in the men's middle distance events, according to Buzz Stevenson, Trojan men's track head coach.

Dakota State has 10 qualifiers for the NAIA Nationals.  The DAC Championship meet will be the Trojans' last chance to make an automatic qualifier to the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
