WBK: Trojans suffer regular season-ending losses in North Dakota

The Dakota State University women's basketball team concluded their regular season in North Dakota. The Trojans fell short to Valley City State Friday night in Valley City, N.D. DSU could not find any answers to defeat nationally-ranked Jamestown Saturday afternoon. After the completion of the DAC conference games on Saturday, Dakota State will be the seventh seed in the DAC Postseason Tournament, which begin on Wednesday.
Dakota State dropped their overall record to 10-17 and 4-10 in the DAC.
Valley City State game
Valley City State shot 43.8 percent (14-for-32) compared to the Trojans' 31 percent (9-for-29) in the first half at the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse in Valley City, N.D. The Vikings jumped to a 34-24 halftime lead.
DSU could not rally in the second half as the Trojans fell short 67-56.
Katie Bourk scored 15 points for Dakota State. She shot 5-for-9 from the field, including 3-for-6 from the 3-point line. Donna Lavea recorded a double-double with 12 points and gathered 11 rebounds. Lashonda Martin shot 5-for-10 from the field for 11 points off the bench.
Four players scored in double figures for Valley City State. Heidi Larson had 15 points on her perfect 6-for-6 shooting night. She recorded six rebounds and two blocked shots. Caitlyn Wojahn and reserve Andrea Hummel each had 12 points. Amanda Brown scored 10 points. Wojahn dished out five assists.
The Vikings outshot the Trojans 47.4 percent to 41.2 percent.
DSU had 26 turnovers in the game compared to the Vikings' 18.
Jamestown game
The Trojans faced Jamestown in both teams' final regular season game at the Civic Center in Jamestown, N.D. The Jimmies jumped to a 43-25 halftime lead and defeated the Trojans 91-68.
Jamestown is ranked No. 10 in the latest NAIA Women's Basketball Division II poll.
Jamestown outscored DSU 48-43 in the second half.
Reserve Allegra Kohley scored 16 points and gathered eight rebounds for the Trojans. Bourk added 15 points on her 4-for-6 shooting night, including 2-for-4 from the 3-point line and 5-for-5 at the free-throw line. Angela Green had 12 points and eight rebounds. Ellesse Washington recorded two blocked shots.
For Jamestown, Katie O'Neill had 18 points. She shot 7-for-9 from the field. Allison Epping scored 17 points off the bench. She went 11-for-12 at the free-throw line. Giuli Varriano had 10 points. Kellie Schuneman dished out nine assists.
Jamestown shot 47.7 percent from the field compared to the Trojans' 36.1 percent.
Dakota State will face Jamestown, No. 2 seed in the DAC Postseason tournament, on Wednesday in Jamestown, N.D. Tip-off is slated at 5:30 p.m.
