DSU Baseball opens season Wednesday and Thursday at the Metrodome

Dakota StateThe Trojan baseball team will open their 2010 season on Wednesday and Thursday.  DSU will play in the annual Metrodome Classic at the H.H.H. Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn.

Dakota State opens with a doubleheader with Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday.  Kansas WesleyanThe first game is slated to start at 5 p.m.  On Thursday, the Trojans will face Dordt in a doubleheader at 5 p.m.

The Trojans were 20-21 last year and finished third in the DAC Post-season tournament.  DSU is picked to finish third in the DAC conference.

Kansas Wesleyan is currently 1-3 overall record this season.  DordtThe Coyotes will play a doubleheader at Avila University (Mo.) Tuesday (today) before entering in the Metrodome Wednesday.  KWU suffered their opening season doubleheader loss to Rogers State (Okla.) and a loss to Oklahoma Baptist.  The Coyotes recorded their first win of the season in the second game of the doubleheader with Oklahoma Baptist.

Kansas Wesleyan is a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).  The Coyotes had won back-to-back regular season conference champions and won the post-season conference tournament last year.  KWU qualified for NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round last season.  They are picked to finish fifth in the KCAC pre-season poll.

Dordt will open their season on Thursday at the Metrodome against the Trojans.  Dordt is a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).  The Defenders are picked to finish 13th in the GPAC pre-season poll.

The Defenders were 10-33 overall record and 4-20 in the GPAC last year.
