Outdoor Track & Field: Trojans had strong performances at Red Raiders Meet

Northwestern (IA) Invitational Results

Devon BerknessORANGE CITY, Iowa - The Dakota State University outdoor track and field teams compete in the Northwestern (IA) Invitational Saturday at the DeValois Stadium. Three Trojan individuals qualified for NAIA Nationals.

Devon Berkness (Madison, S.D.) swept the men’s 10,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs title. He broke the 10,000-meter run meet record with a time of 31 minutes and 48.76 seconds and qualified for NAIA Nationals. In the 5,000-meter run, he posted a time of 15:22.12.

Tyler Van PeursemIn the men’s 1,500-meter run, Dakota state placed four runners in the top five. Tyler Van Peursem (Sioux Falls, S.D.) captured the title with a time of 3:55.34 and set a new meet record. Anthony Drealan (Fulda, Minn.) came in second (3:56.71). Van Peursem and Drealan posted the national qualifying marks. Andy Coy (Hill City, S.D.) was third with a time of 3:57.71. Matt Fideler (Volga, S.D.) finished fifth in 4:10.79.

Freshman Michael Hoffman (Beresford, S.D.) dropped nearly 40 seconds off of his personal best to finish first in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. He finished with a time of 10:43.76.

Clarice Bauer (Madison, S.D.) finished as runner-up in the women’s 10,000-meter run with a time of 40.37.62.

Amber Krogstad (Baltic, S.D.) placed second in the women’s triple jump. Her jump measurement was 35 feet and 5.75 inches.Allegra Kohley

Allegra Kohley (Los Angeles, Calif.) set her personal best in the women’s javelin. She finished second in the event with a measurement of 110 feet and seven inches.

Donna Lavea (Christchurch, New Zealand) established her personal best in the shot put with a measure of 42 feet and four inches. She placed third in the event.

Freshman Stacey Berg (Winslow, Ariz.) placed third in the men’s jump with a measurement of 21 feet and 11 inches.

In the women’s 400-meter dash, freshman Stephanie Uher (Mitchell, S.D) finished fourth with a personal best of 1:01.70.

Cody Foreman (Miller, S.D.) placed fourth in the men’s 400-meter run in 50.23 seconds.

The Trojans will compete in the Sioux City Relays on April 16th and 17th. The meet will be held in Sioux City, Iowa.
