Five Trojan Baseball players shatter records

Five Dakota State University baseball players had been listed in the DSU school record book in three different categories.
Jared Donahue (Winner, S.D.), sophomore starting pitcher for the Trojans, broke a DSU school record in most strikeouts in a single season. He recorded 97 strikeouts, previously set by former NAIA All-American honorable mention Dustin Ottens with 67 in 2006. According to the NAIA DakStats statistical website, Donahue ranks second in the nation in batters struck out per nine innings with 12.18. 
He was named to DAC All-Conference first team pitcher for his second straight year and finished with an overall record of 5-3 with an ERA of 4.27.
Senior starting pitcher Lincoln Gassman (Canova, S.D.) recorded 69 strikeouts this season, which is second in the DSU school record book for most strikeouts in a single season. He finished his 2010 campaign with a 6-3 record with an ERA of 4.61. Gassman was named to DAC All-Conference second team pitcher.
Josh Tiede (Newport, Wash.), senior second baseman for DSU, recorded ten home runs in the season. 
He tied for first place for most home runs in a season with Evan Hogan (2003). Tiede earned DAC All-Conference first team second base honor.
Sophomore pitcher Nick Mutz (Rohnert Park, Calif.) had 65 strikeouts for the year, which put him fourth in the DSU school record. He currently ranks sixth in the nation in batters struck out per nine innings (11.62). Mutz ranks third in the DSU record book for most saves in a season with seven. He currently ranks 15th in the nation for saves. Mutz was named to DAC's Co-Pitchers of the Year and DAC All-Conference first team relief pitcher.
Brian White (Aberdeen, S.D.) finished his career at Dakota State with 66 walks. He is listed second in the DSU record book for most walks in a career behind Josh Cuffe with 70. In addition, White was tied for second in most home runs in a single season with nine.
Dakota State concluded their 2010 season with an overall record of 24-20. The Trojans were 21-14 in the final 35 games of the season, which included a stretch of 11 wins in 12 games. 
DSU finished their conference regular season with a fourth place finish. The Trojans were third in the conference tournament, including an upset win over national qualifier Jamestown.
