Westby to play for Trojan Football

David WestbyDakota State University football head coach Josh Anderson is proud to announce the signing of David Westby to join Trojan Football team this fall.

Westby, 6'2" and 240 lbs., graduated from Aberdeen Central High School this past spring.  He was an offensive lineman (under head coach Mike Flakus) for the Eagles who earned State Class '11AA' runner-ups last fall.  Westby was named the Rookie of the Year in his junior year and was a member of the Eastern South Dakota (ESD) conference championship team.

Westby also lettered in basketball.  He earned Rookie of the Year and all-conference honor.  Westby was a member of the Eagles boys' basketball team that finished as runner-ups last winter.

David is the son of Steve and Tiffany Westby of Aberdeen, S.D.  He plans to study in elementary education at Dakota State University.

DSU will open their 2010 football season at home on Saturday, August 28th against Midland Lutheran.  Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Trojan Field.
