DSU volleyball team begins practice

DSU Volleyball head coach Amy Veenhof observes during practiceThe Dakota State University volleyball team under the guidance of second-year head coach Amy Veenhof, began practice Monday with high expectations for 2010 season.

The Trojans will be returning four starters from last year's team.  Seniors Margie Anthony, Erica Gall, Ashley Schulte and Amy Pheneger will be returning to the team.  In addition, junior Stephanie Kruggel and sophomore Mollie Merriam will return.  Ashley SchulteSophomores Katie Green, Stephanie Uher and Jennifer Wepking also return to the team.  The Trojan volleyball team has nine new faces.

DSU lost seniors Rachael Jensen and Vicki Kaul to graduation.  Jensen, 2008 and 2009 DAC All-Conference selections, and Kaul played four years of volleyball at Dakota State.

Dakota State will be competing in the DAC conference for the final time this year.  The Trojans will be a member of the independent team next year in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Team conditioningDSU opens their 2010 season at the Grand View (IA) tournament in Des Moines, Iowa on the weekend of Aug. 27-28.
