DSU men's runners rank No. 17 in first NAIA Men's XC National Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Dakota State tallied 249 points and tied with Simon Fraser (B.C.) for No. 17 ranking in the first edition of the NAIA Men's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Wednesday. Malone (Ohio) tallied 19 first-place votes to land at No. 1.
The Trojans were ranked No. 15 in the NAIA Men's Preseason Cross Country Poll in August.
DSU men's cross country won their first meet of the season at the Dakota Wesleyan Invitational on Sept. 3. The Trojans placed three runners in the top three and five runners in the top 10.
Dakota State will be hosting the DSU/Herb Blakely Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 18. The meet will be held at the Madison Country Club with the women's race starting at 10:30 a.m., men's to follow at approximately 11:10 a.m.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, independents and unaffiliated groups. The next poll of the 2010 season will be released on Sept. 22.
