The Dakota State University women's and men's cross country teams will open their 2010 season on Friday in Mitchell, S.D. The Trojans will compete in the Dakota Wesleyan Invitational at the Wild Oak Private Golf Course. The women's race begins at 4 p.m. with the men's to follow.
The teams expected in the meet included host team DWU, Dordt, Dakota State, Briar Cliff and NCAA Division III Buena Vista.

On the men's side, they will be running a four-mile course (instead of 8000-meters). Dakota State men's team is ranked No. 15 in the NAIA Men's Cross Country preseason national poll, the highest rank ever in school history. The Trojans are ranked first in the conference preseason poll.
According to DSU's first-year head coach Mike Nekuda, he is looking forward to see where we are at in our training and evaluating his runners' fitness level. Nekuda is expecting good performances at the meet.
