Trojans lose two volleyball matches in North Dakota

The Dakota State University volleyball team traveled to Minot, N.D. Friday and Dickinson, N.D. on Saturday. It might be the Trojans' last time traveling to Minot and Dickinson before moving to independent next season. The Trojans suffered defeats from Minot State (3-1) and Dickinson State (3-0).
DSU lost their fourth straight match. The Trojans' overall record dipped to 7-15 and 1-5 in the DAC conference.
Minot State 3, Dakota State 1 - Box Score
The Trojans came in the MSU Dome on Friday night and won the opening set by the score of 25-21. Minot State came back and won the final three sets by the scores of 25-21, 25-12 and 25-16.
Margie Anthony led the Trojans' offense with 10 kills. Ashley Schulte and Amy Pheneger each added nine kills. Mollie Merriam produced 21 set assists and two service aces. Mandy Baxa had two service aces.
Mandi Atkins recorded 25 digs for the Trojans. Pheneger added 15 digs and two solo blocks. Schulte had three block assists.
Four players recorded in double digits kills for Minot State. Jen Dixon and Jennifer Yausie each had 14 kills. Janice-Rose Reinbolt added 11 kills, three solo blocks and three block assists. Shari Dueck had a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs. Abbey Aide contributed 52 assists.
Dixon had 14 digs for the Beavers. Jenna Mofatt had 13 digs.
Minot State outhit the Trojans 57-34 and .259-.085 in the match.
Dickinson State 3, Dakota State 0 - Box Score
Dakota State was unable to match up with Dickinson State in a 3-0 sweep at the Scott Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Hawks dominated the Trojans by the scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-12.
Anthony and Baxa each had five kills for the Trojans. Schulte added four kills. Merriam recorded 15 assists and three service aces.
Katie Green led the Trojans' defense with seven digs. Atkins and Merriam each had six digs. Mandy Frogner and Baxa each recorded three block assists.
For Dickinson State, Ruth Johnson had seven kills. Crystal Franklin added six kills, two solo blocks and nine block assists. Whitley Abrahamson and Kristina Eric each had 14 assists.
Rebecca Johnson recorded 19 digs for the Blue Hawks.
Dickinson State had 33 kills and four attack errors in the match with a killing efficiency of .372. The Trojans recorded 21 kills as a team. Dakota State committed 19 killing errors and a killing efficiency of .024. The Blue Hawks had 15 blocks compared to the Trojans' five blocks.
Dakota State looks to end their losing streak on Wednesday night in Mayville, N.D. The Trojans conclude their first half of the DAC volleyball schedule at Mayville State.
