Berkness and Drealan earn DAC Cross Country postseason honors

Devon BerknessThe Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) has announced the cross country postseason honors after the completion of the DAC championship meet Friday.  Two runners from Dakota State University earned the honors.

The DAC cross country coaches has selected DSU's Devon Berkness as male's Most Valuable runner and Senior Athlete of the Year.  He captured the DAC individual title with a time of 26 minutes and 20 seconds.  Berkness was named to DAC All-Conference team and qualified for NAIA Nationals.  Devon is the son of Bob and Marlys Mildenberg of Madison, S.D.

Samantha DrealanSamantha Drealan was chosen by the DAC cross country coaches as female's Senior Athlete of the Year.  She finished 23rd at the DAC conference meet with a time of 20:51.  Drealan had earned Daktronics-NAIA Cross Country Academic Scholar-Athlete and DAC Scholar Athlete honors during her career at DSU.  Samantha is the daughter of Tim and Brenda Warnke of Fairfax, S.D.

Andy Coy, Matt Fideler and Stephanie Warnke were also named to DAC All-Conference teams and qualified for NAIA Nationals.  Coy placed third in 26:31.  Fideler was sixth with a time of 26:57.  Warnke placed eighth in the women's race with a time of 19:17.  Individuals need to place in the top 15 at the conference meet to earn DAC All-Conference honor.
