DSU women's basketball bounce back in winning column Saturday

Katie BourkYORK, Neb. - The Dakota State University women's basketball team traveled to Freeman Center to face York College (Neb.) in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon.  The Trojans bounced back in the winning column as DSU defeated the Panthers 54-44.

Dakota State raised their overall record to 3-4.  York dropped their overall record to 3-7.

The Trojans led 31-25 at halftime.  DSU outscored the Panthers 23-19 in the second-half.

Katie Bourk had 11 points for Dakota State.  She went 4-for-11 from the field, including 3-for-7 from the 3-point line.  Aneshia Starks added nine points and grabbed seven rebounds.  She stole the ball three times.  Kylie Westover had eight points and recorded six rebounds off the bench.  Courtney Hamblin had seven rebounds.

For York, Lorena Medeiros recorded a double-double of 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.  Keishell Paul added 12 points and recorded six rebounds.Aneshia Starks

Both teams struggled from the field, shooting under 40 percent.  DSU shot 19-for-54 (35.2 percent) compared to the Panthers' 19-for-59 (32.2 percent).  The Trojans were 7-for-24 from the 3-point line compared to York's 1-for-9.

DSU outrebounded the Panthers 41-38.

The Trojans scored 21 points off the bench compared to the Panthers' 9.

Dakota State will play an exhibition game on Monday night.  The Trojans face NCAA Division II Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.  Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. at the Elmen Center.
