Trojans receive vote to NAIA MBB Division II ‘Top 25’ Poll

Gary GarnerKANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Trojan men's basketball team received a vote in the first regular season edition of the 2010-11 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 poll announced Monday.

Walsh (Ohio) takes over the No. 1 spot from preseason's No. 1-ranked Saint Francis (Ind.). Finishing behind Walsh is No. 2 Oklahoma Wesleyan, No. 3 Cornerstone (Mich.), No. 4 Briar Cliff (Iowa) and No. 5 Embry-Riddle (Fla.).

Dakota State’s current record is 5-4 as of Nov. 29. The Trojans’ three of the four losses came in overtime. On Nov. 26, DSU records an exhibition 52-51 win over NCAA Division II Augustana College.

DAC’s fellow Black Hills State (S.D.) dropped two spots from No. 6 to No. 8. Jamestown (N.D.) remained at No. 22.

The Trojans will open their final year of the DAC conference season on Friday on the road. DSU will face their DAC’s traveling partner, Mayville State, in their only conference game this month. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Lewy Lee Fieldhouse in Mayville, N.D.
