DSU women's basketball opens DAC season Friday, returns home Monday

The Dakota State University Trojan women's basketball team opens their final year of Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) on the road Friday night. The Trojans will visit their DAC's traveling partner Mayville State in both teams' only conference game this month. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. at Lewy Lee Fieldhouse in Mayville, N.D.
Dakota State will return home on Monday after playing eight straight games (including two exhibition games) on the road. The Trojans will begin their three-game home stand versus Mount Marty in a non-conference game. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse in Madison, S.D.
DSU's overall record is 3-4. Mayville State is winless in five games. The Comets will host NCAA Division III University of Minnesota-Morris on Tuesday night. Mount Marty is 6-3 overall record. The Lancers host Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday night and travels to Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
Dakota State and Mayville State split their two meetings last season with each team winning on their own court. The Comets won the last meeting 84-76 in Mayville, N.D. on Jan. 28. The Trojans defeated Mayville State 79-59 in Madison, S.D. on Dec. 5, 2009.
Mount Marty shot 59 percent from the field as the Lancers defeated Dakota State 88-60 in both teams' last meeting on Dec. 18, 2009 in Yankton, S.D. The Lancers grabbed a 45-31 halftime lead and outscored the Trojans 43-29 in the second-half.
