Trojan men's basketball gains recognition to NAIA 'Top 25' poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Dakota State University men's basketball team received votes for the third straight week in the latest edition of the 2010-11 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 poll. The national poll was announced Monday.
The Trojans received three votes to the national poll. Dakota State recorded an 80-76 comeback victory over NCAA Division III Presentation College on Dec. 9.
DSU will host Morningside of the Great Plains Athletic Conference on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. It will be their second meeting of the season. The Trojans won the first meeting 75-57 at the University of Sioux Falls/Famous Dave's-Subway Classic on Nov. 5. Morningside and DSU will meet for their third meeting of the season on Dec. 30 as part of Morningside Holiday Classic.
Dakota State will face No. 6 Briar Cliff on the first day of the Morningside Holiday Classic on Dec. 29.
Black Hills State is the lone Dakota Athletic Conference member to be ranked in the 'Top 25'. The Yellow Jackets moved in a tie with Briar Cliff for No. 6 ranking with 361 votes. Dickinson State received 81 votes and Jamestown recorded 45 votes to the national poll.
The top three spots remained unchanged. Walsh (Ohio) remained at No. 1, followed by No. 2 Oklahoma Wesleyan and No. 3 Cornerstone (Mich.). Embry-Riddle (Fla.) moved up to No. 4 while St. Francis (Ind.) ranks No. 5.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The fourth regular-season 'Top 25' will be announced on Jan. 10, 2011.
