DSU men's basketball plays first home DAC games this weekend
January 10, 2011
The Dakota State University men's basketball team plays their first home DAC conference games this weekend. The Trojans will host South Dakota School of Mines on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, DSU hosts the nationally-ranked Black Hills State at 6 p.m. All games will be held at the DSU Fieldhouse.
Dakota State is 9-7 overall record and 1-2 in the DAC. The Trojans suffered their second straight defeat last Saturday to Dickinson State 56-47 in Dickinson, N.D.
South Dakota School of Mines is 9-8 and 1-2 in the conference. The Hardrockers defeated Valley City State 69-47 on Jan. 8 in Rapid City, S.D.
SD Mines had won the last two meetings from the Trojans. The Hardrockers defeated Dakota State 62-50 (Jan. 15, 2010 in Rapid City) and 60-51 (Feb. 13, 2010 in Madison). Dakota State's last win versus SD School of Mines was on Jan. 31, 2009 (73-67 at the DSU Fieldhouse).
Black Hills State is 14-3 overall and undefeated in three conference games. The Yellow Jackets are currently on a three-game winning streak. BHSU is ranked No. 6 in the latest NAIA Division II Men's Basketball national poll.
Both DSU and BHSU split their two meetings last season, with each team winning on their own home court. Both meetings were decided by less than three points. Black Hills state held on to defeat the Trojans 68-66 in Spearfish, S.D. on Jan. 16, 2010. DSU upset the Yellow Jackets 69-66 in Madison on Feb. 12, 2010.
The games will be available on live video website from 'America One.' In addition, there will be a live stats/scoring from the games. Check on www.dsuathletics.com under 'Upcoming Events' for more information.
Radio coverage will be also available live on KJAM FM 103.1 with the Trojan voice of Brian Holt.
