Trojan women's team begin three-game home stand this weekend

The Trojan women's basketball team returns home this weekend to begin their three-game home stand.  On Friday, Dakota State will host South Dakota School of Mines in Trojans' season home DAC conference opener at 5:30 p.m.  Nationally-ranked Black Hills state will visit Dakota State on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.  On Monday, Jan. 17, DSU will welcome York (Neb.) in a non-conference make-up game at 2 p.m.  All games will be held at the DSU Fieldhouse.

Dakota State is 4-10 overall record and winless in three DAC conference games.  Currently, the Trojans are on a four-game losing streak.

SD School of Mines is 7-10 and 1-2 in the conference.  The Hardrockers snapped their five-game losing streak in a 64-48 upset home victory over then-No. 23 Valley City State on Saturday.

The Trojans had won the last three meetings with South Dakota School of Mines, including 74-72 overtime victory in Rapid City (Jan. 15, 2010) and 88-82 home win in Madison (Feb. 13, 2010).

Black Hills State extended their winning streak to seven games in a 91-87 home victory over Jamestown on Saturday.  The Yellow Jackets are 13-3 overall and is the only undefeated team in the DAC conference.  BHSU remained No. 7 in the latest edition of the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball national poll released on Monday (Jan. 10).

The Yellow Jackets won the last six meetings from the the Trojans, including 79-54 (in Spearfish) and 85-75 (in Madison) wins last season.  The last time Dakota State defeated the Yellow Jackets was on Jan. 18, 2008, the year when DSU went on to win their third straight conference title and a trip to NAIA National Tournament 'Sweet Sixteen.'

York is 4-11 overall.  The Panthers will play four games this week before visiting Dakota State on Jan. 17.
