Heitkamp joins DSU Cross Country and Track
January 14, 2011
Dakota State University head cross country and women's track and field coach Mike Nekuda is excited to announce the signing of Hailee Heitkamp. She will be joining the Trojan women's cross country team this fall and track next season.
"I am extremely excited to have Hailee join the Trojan cross country and track programs," said Nekuda.
Heitkamp comes from Adrian High School in Adrian, Minn. She ran for the Dragons that won four consecutive Minnesota state titles. "In high school, I believe Hailee learned the importance of team and working with others to get better," stated Nekuda.
Heitkamp also holds the high school record in 300-meter hurdles in 47.2 seconds. She was a member of last year's state fourth place team in the 4 x 800-meter relay.
Not only is Hailee impressive on the track, but also with her academics. She currently holds over a 3.9 cumulative high school GPA. "Not only do I like recruiting good runners, but good people and students," stated Nekuda. "I believe Hailee Heitkamp fits the mold perfectly."
Hailee is the daughter of Doug and Terri Peterson and Ray Heitkamp. She plans to major in Exercise Science at Dakota State University.
