Five Trojans had stellar performances in Husker Invitational

Andy CoyLINCOLN, Neb. - Five student-athletes from Dakota State University indoor track and field team excelled in the 36th annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Saturday at the Devaney Center Indoor Track. The meet featured numerous athletes from NCAA Division I schools.

Andy Coy (sophomore – Hill City, S.D.) placed third in the men's special 800-meter run. He finished with a time of one minute and 53.33 seconds, which put him fifth fastest time in the NAIA. Coy had already qualified for NAIA Nationals in three events – one-mile, 600- and 800-meters runs.

Devon BerknessIn the men's 3000-meter run, Devon Berkness (senior – Madison, S.D.) posted a time of 8:46.58 for a sixth-place finish. He had posted a NAIA provisional qualifying mark.

Anthony Drealan, who ran as unattached, posted a fourth-place finish in the men's special 3000-meter run. He clocked a time of 8:27.09.

Brittany Young (sophomore – Casper, Wyo.) finished ninth in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.59.

Anthony DrealanIn the women's high jump, Danielle Rowe (senior – Rapid City, S.D.) placed 12th. She leaped with a measurement of five feet and three inches (1.60 meters).

Dakota State will compete in their final regular season meet on Saturday, Feb. 12. The Trojans will compete in the Dordt Invitational in Sioux Center, Iowa. The final Dakota Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held in Spearfish, S.D. on Feb. 18 and 19.
