Trojan women's basketball takes final DAC road trip this weekend

The Dakota State University women's basketball team takes their final Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) regular season road trip this weekend. The Trojans face nationally-ranked Black Hills State on Friday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CT)/5:30 p.m. (MT) at the Donald E. Young Gymnasium in Spearfish, S.D. On Saturday night, DSU will take on SD Mines in Rapid City, S.D. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. (CT)/4 p.m. (MT) at the King Center.
Dakota State is 6-16 overall and 2-8 in the DAC conference. The Trojans lost to Dickinson State (58-54) on Feb. 4. Dakota State upsets Minot State 72-67 to snap their six-game losing streak on Feb. 5.
Black Hills State is 18-5 overall and 8-2 in the conference. The Yellow Jackets, currently No. 9 in the latest NAIA Division II Women's Basketball national poll, is in first-place in the DAC. BHSU suffered a pair of conference losses on the road last weekend. The Yellow Jackets lost to Jamestown (83-63) on Feb. 4 and Valley City State (56-54) on Feb. 5.
SD Mines is 10-14 and 4-6 in the DAC. The Hardrockers lost to Valley City State (65-51) on Feb. 4 and defeated Jamestown (88-78) on Feb. 5 in North Dakota.
Black Hills State limited the Trojans to 28.6 percent from the field as the Yellow Jackets defeated DSU 72-41 in both teams' first meeting on Jan. 15 in Madison, S.D. BHSU raced to a 33-18 halftime lead and outscored the Trojans 39-23 in the second-half.
After trailing by two points at halftime (28-26), Dakota State used a strong second-half surge to defeat the Hardrockers in their first meeting at the DSU Fieldhouse on Jan. 14. With the game tied at 32-32 with 16:27 left in regulation, DSU used a 15-6 run to grab a 47-38 lead with less than eight-and-half minutes left. SD Mines cut their deficit to four points on couple occasions (58-54 and 60-56), but the Trojans secured the win by converting four free-throws int he final 23 seconds of the game.
