Trojan indoor track & field competes in final regular season meet

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The Dakota State University women's and men's indoor track and field teams competed in their final regular season meet on Saturday. The Trojans participated in the Dordt Invitational held at the Recreation Center.
Host-team Dordt, Dakota State, Briar Cliff, Mount Marty, South Dakota School of Mines, Morningside, Dakota Wesleyan, University of Sioux Falls and NCAA Division II Augustana competed in the meet.
Brittany Young captured a first-place finish in the women's 600-meter run with a provisional qualifying mark. She broke both DSU and personal records with a time of one minute and 38.60 seconds (.30 faster than her previous record in 2010).
In the women's high jump, Danielle Rowe placed third with a leap measurement of five feet and five inches.
Andy Coy won the individual title in the men's 1000-meter run. He clocked a time of 2:29.79.
Devon Berkness was third in the men's one-mile run with a time of 4:31.50.
Other place finishers are: Amber Krogstad (13th in long jump – 15'7.5", 9th in triple jump – 34'1.5", 19th in 200-meter dash – 28.73 seconds and 10th tie in high jump 4'10"); Phil Carmody (12th in long jump – 19'9.75", 28th in shot put – 28'8.5" and 27th in 55-meter dash – 7.09 seconds); Nate Schulz (15th in long jump – 19'1.5"); Jordy Peterson (22nd in long jump – 17'11.5" and 10th in triple jump – 38'2"); Shane Whidby (8th in weight throw – 41'5.75" and 9th in shot put – 43'11.75"); Trevor Rosstznecht (13th in weight throw – 34'4" and 25th in shot put – 32'5.75"); Ryan Gimbel (14th in weight throw – 33'1.25" and 18th in shot put – 37'9.25"); Michael Hoffman (9th in 3000-meter run – 9:31.65); Jared Mengenhausen (20th in shot put – 35'1.75"); Andy Quenzer (20th in 800-meter run – 2:01.64); Berkness (20th in 800-meter run – 2:06.71); Jerad Schlobohm (23rd in 800-meter run – 2:08.57); Kace Groff (27th in 800-meter run – 2:10.69); Sara Schultz (25th in 800-meter run – 2:47.91); Claire Beck (13th in 400-meter run – 1:03.75); Stephanie Uher (14th in 400-meter run – 1:04.37 and 13th tie in high jump – 4'9"); Summer Bronson (16th – 400-meter dash – 1:05.39); Amy Pheneger (17th in 400-meter dash – 1:05.69); Nicole Jurrens (20th in 400-meter dash – 1:09.13 and 30th in 200-meter dash – 31.68 seconds); Gabe Samuelson (19th in 400-meter dash – 54.62 seconds); Ryan Huizenga (27th in 400-meter dash – 56.58 seconds and 28th in 200-meter dash – 25.25 seconds); Karisa Hartje (14th in 600-meter dash – 1:57.30); Brandi Gau (12th in 200-meter dash – 28.22 seconds and 18th in 55-meter dash – 8 seconds); Laura Porch (23rd in 200-meter dash – 29.79 seconds and 19th in 55-meter dash – 8.07 seconds); Chance Clason (25th in 200-meter dash and 24th in 55-meter dash – 7.01 seconds); Joshua Scott (34th in 200-meter dash and 35th in 55-meter dash – 7.52 seconds); and Craig Bailey (7th in high jump 5'8.75").
Dakota State will compete in their final Dakota Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships next weekend. The two-day event will be held at Donald E. Young Gymnasium, campus of Black Hills State University, in Spearfish, S.D.
