DAC Indoor Track and Field Championships Schedule of Events

The Dakota State University women's and men's indoor track and field teams are preparing for their final Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) Indoor Track and Field Championship meet this weekend.  The two-day event will be held at the Donald E. Young Gymnasium on the campus of Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D.

Jamestown is the defending women's indoor track and field conference champions.  In 2010 championship meet, the Jimmies scored 206.5 points followed by Black Hills State with 176.33 points.  Dickinson State was third and Dakota State placed fourth.  Minot State finished fifth and South Dakota School of Mines was sixth.

On th men's side, Dickinson State is the defending champions.  Dakota State placed second with 134 points last year in the conference meet, the highest place ever since joining the DAC conference in 2000.  The Yellow Jackets were third with 133 points followed by Jamestown fourth, South Dakota School of Mines fifth and Minot State sixth.

Valley City State will be competing in the DAC Indoor Track and Field Championship meet for the first time since 2003.

The women's pentathlon and men's heptathlon events will start on Friday at 10 a.m. (MT).  There will be four events - pole vault, triple jump, weight throw and 5,000-meter run - to be held on Friday, starting at 4 p.m. (MT).

A full schedule of events will be on Saturday.  The first event is expected to start at 8:30 a.m. (MT) with the men's heptathlon 60-meter hurdles.

The NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships will be held on March 3-5 in Geneva, Ohio.
