Trojan Softball games rained out on day one in South Carolina
March 7, 2011
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The opening of the 2011 season for the Trojan softball program was delayed Sunday as the result of a 'called game', due to rain after the completion of the first inning. The Trojans who were in the midst of a doubleheader against King's College (Penn.) where just ready to take the field to begin the second inning.
"It is unfortunate that we were not able to play today, but obviously the safety of our student-athletes was and always should be our first priority," stated head coach Ken Prorok. "Even though we only played one inning we did get a small glimpse of what I hope will be a very productive trip. We managed to get our lead-off hitter on, our two hole just missed a home run by three feet and we had two other at bats that saw 7 pitches each. Defensively we managed to get two very week fly ball outs before ending the inning with a ground ball," added Prorok.
The Trojans will be in action Monday (today) with three games scheduled for 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (ET).
