Trojans host Mayville State in DAC four-game home series this weekend

The Dakota State University baseball team continues their six-game home stand this weekend. The Trojans will play their first Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) four-game home series on Saturday and Sunday. Dakota State hosts Mayville State with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Flynn Field.
Dakota State is 2-20 overall record and 0-4 in the DAC conference. The Trojans split their home opener against Briar Cliff on Wednesday, April 6. DSU came from behind to defeat the Chargers 6-4 in the first game, but suffered a setback in the second game (4-1). Mayville State is 11-7 and 2-2 in the conference. The Comets split a four-game series with Jamestown last weekend in South Sioux City, Neb. Mayville State played Valley City State as non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 6 in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Comets split with the Vikings, winning game one (5-1) and losing 4-3 in eight innings in the second game.
Mayville State took four of the five meetings from Dakota State last season. The last meeting was on May 9, 2010 in the DAC Post-Season Tournament semifinals in Mayville, N.D., won by the Comets 10-7. Mayville State won the 2010 DAC Baseball Post-Season Tournament and went on to qualify for NAIA Baseball National Tournament, where they lost in the opening round.
