Trojan Baseball plays Beavers in Rapid City, S.D. this weekend

April 15, 2011

The Dakota State University baseball team continues their Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) action this weekend.  The Trojans will head to Rapid City, S.D.  DSU plays Minot State in a four-game series at the Post 22 Field.  The doubleheader starts at 11 a.m. (MT) on Saturday and 9 a.m. (MT) on Sunday.  It was originally scheduled to play in Minot, N.D., but forced to relocate the series due to wet playing field conditions and colder weather forecast.

DSU is 3-23 overall record and 1-7 in the Dakota Athletic Conference.  The Trojans recorded two wins at home last week.  DSU split with Briar Cliff on April 6.  Dakota State notched their first conference win (7-5) on April 10 versus Mayville State.  Minot State is 8-16 and winless in six DAC games this season.  The Beavers snapped their eight-game losing streak on April 14.  Minot State defeated Dickinson State 3-2 in a nine-inning non-conference game in Minot, N.D.

Dakota State took four games in five meetings from Minot State last year.  The Trojans won three games in the four-game series with the Beavers in Madison, S.D. on April 10-11, 2010.  The last time both teams met was in the DAC Baseball Post-season Tournament first-round in Jamestown, N.D., where the Trojans defeated Minot State 13-3 in seven innings on May 8, 2010.
