Sioux City Relays Day One Results

Anthony DrealanSIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Dakota State University outdoor track and field teams completed their first day on Friday in the Sioux City Relays two-day event. Numerous schools from NCAA and NAIA competed in the wet, windy and cold conditions at the Olsen Stadium.

DSU men's medley relay (Anthony Drealan, Jared Mengenhausen, Thomas Kjerengtroen and Devon Berkness) captured the title with a time of 10 minutes and 36.09 seconds. It was the fifth fastest time in the DSU Outdoor Track record book.

Jared MengenhausenIn the men's 800-meter run, Andy Coy placed second in 1:57.27. Jerad Schlobohm was 26th in 2:04.40. Kace Groff finished 27th in 2:04.59.

Dakota State men's throwers had great performances on Friday. Shane Whidby was sixth in the shot put with a measurement of 42 feet and 6.75 inches. Jeff Reiger was 10th (38 feet and 11 inches) and Ryan Gimbel placed 13th (38 feet and 2.25 inches).

Gimbel improved his personal and DSU school record in the men's hammer throw. He threw a hammer measurement of 114 feet and eight inches. Trevor Rosstznecht was ninth (103 feet and eight inches).

Thomas KjerengtroenSummer Bronson and Amy Pheneger were tied for eighth in the women's 400-meter hurdles. They finished with a time of 1:11.88.

In the women's 400-meter dash, Claire Beck placed 10th with a time of 1:02.95. Nicole Jurrens was 15th in 1:07.18.

Joshua Scott finished 22nd in the men's 400-meter dash (56.83 seconds).

Sara Schultz clocked a time of 2:49.18 for a 32nd place finish in the women's 800-meter run.

Devon BerknessThe second day of the Sioux City Relays will be held on Saturday. First event is slated to start at 8 a.m.
