South Dakota State Twilight Meet Results

Devon BerknessBROOKINGS, S.D. - Several Dakota State University track athletes competed at the South Dakota State University Twilight meet on Monday evening.  Devon Berkness and Andy Coy each recorded an automatic qualifying mark for NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

Schools from NCAA Division I and II along with several NAIA schools participated in the meet.

Berkness captured the men's 10,000-meter run.  He clocked a time of 31 minutes and 22.58 seconds.

Andy CoyCoy won the men's 1500-meter run.  He recorded the second fastest time in DSU school record book with a time of 3:52.63.

In the men's 400-meter dash, Jared Mengenhausen placed sixth with a time of 52.85 seconds.  He was 10th in the 200-meter dash in 23.79 seconds.

Other DSU place finishers are:  Thomas Kjerengtroen (13th in the men's 800-meter run - 2:02.41); Jerad Schlobohm (14th in men's 800-meter run - 2:03.11) and Kace Groff (19th in men's 1500-meter run - 4:32.11).

Dakota State returns back to action on Friday.  The Trojans will compete in the University of Sioux Falls Invitational on Friday (pushed back from originally scheduled meet on Saturday).
