Drealan runs school record & national qualifying time at Drake Relays

Anthony DrealanDES MOINES, Iowa - Anthony Drealan of Dakota State University ran the men's 10,000-meters at Drake Stadium on Thursday night.  A total of 27 runners from NCAA Division I, II and III along with NAIA schools competed in the race.  Drealan placed ninth with a new DSU school record and made an automatic qualifying mark.

Tanner Fruit from NCAA Division II Nebraska-Kearney placed first with a time of 29 minutes and 50.41 seconds.  Five runners from Division I (Drake, Georgia, Oakland and Wisconsin) placed in the top eight.

Drealan was the top NAIA runner in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 30:41.33.  As a result, he qualified for NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships to be held in Marion, Ind. on May 26-28.

Drealan broke the DSU school record that was held by Robert Blase in 1998.  The previous old school record time was 31 minutes and 12.64 seconds.

The men's distance medley relay (Drealan, Andy Coy, Thomas Kjerengtroen and Jared Mengenhausen) will run on Saturday morning at 9:19 a.m.
