DSU competes in windy USF outdoor track invitational Friday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Dakota State University outdoor track and field teams had to face windy conditions at the University of Sioux Falls Invitational Friday. The meet was at the Lillibridge Track and Field Complex located at the USF Sanford Complex Friday.
Ryan Gimbel continued to improve his personal and DSU school record in the men's hammer throw. He threw a measurement of 116 feet and seven inches for an 11th place finish. He was 14th in shot put (39' 7.25") and 14th in discus (106' 11").
Jeff Rieger recorded a fifth-place finish in the men's discus throw. He threw a discus measurement of 120 feet. He placed ninth in the shot put (42 feet and two inches).
Trevor Rosstznecht was eighth in the discus (116' 7"). Shane Whidby placed eighth in shot put with a measurement of 42 feet and six inches.
In the men's 5000-meter run, Kace Groff placed second with a time of 17 minutes and 23.84 seconds.
DSU placed two runners in the top six in hurdles. Summer Bronson was third in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.63. She clocked a time of 15.59 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. Ryan Huizenga was sixth in the men's 400-meter hurdles (1:01.63).
Claire Beck finished sixth in the women's 400-meter dash in 1:03.89. Stephanie Uher was seventh (1:04.49). Nicole Jurrens was 12th (1:08.41).
Stacey Berg was sixth in the men's 200-meter dash. He clocked a time of 22.90 seconds.
In jumps, Amber Krogstad placed sixth in the women's long jump with a measurement of 17 feet and seven inches. Jordy Peterson recorded a seventh place finish in men's triple jump (41 feet and 9.75 inches) and ninth in the long jump (19 feet and 9.5 inches).
Craig Bailey leaped a high jump measurement of five feet and 11 inches for a seventh-place finish in the men's high jump.
Jerad Schlobohm placed ninth in the men's 800-meter run (2:06.20).
In relay events, the Trojan women's 4 x 400-meter relay team recorded a first-place finish with a time of 4:20.67. The women's 4 x 100-meter relay finished fourth in 51.71 seconds.
The DSU men's 4 x 100-meter relay team clocked a time of 44.58 seconds for a fourth-place finish. The men's 4 x 400-meter relay was fifth in 3:46.22.
Other Dakota State place finishers are: Laura Porch (13th in women's 100-meter dash – 13.51 seconds and 14th in 200-meter dash – 28.26); Brandi Gau (14th in women's 100-meter dash – 13.57 seconds and 11th in 200-meter dash – 27.93); Sara Schultz (23rd in women's 1500-meter run – 6:09.33); Chance Clason (24th in men's 200-meter dash – 24.49 seconds) and Joshua Scott (29th in men's 200-meter dash – 25.92 seconds and 15th in 400-meter dash – 59.02).
Dakota State will compete in their final regular season meet next weekend in Sioux Falls. The Trojans travel to the Howard Wood Field to take in the annual Howard Wood Relays on Friday (May 6) and Saturday (May 7).
