Rowe qualifies for NAIA Nationals in women's high jump

Danielle RoweSIOUX FALLS, S.D. - In the second day of the Howard Wood Relays on Saturday, the Dakota State University outdoor track and field qualified one athlete for NAIA nationals.

Danielle Rowe returned back to action after battling an injury in the past few weeks.  She placed third in the women's high jump.  Rowe leaped a national qualifying mark of five feet and six inches, which placed her sixth (tie) in the DSU record book.

Summer Bronson clocked a time of 16.01 seconds for a ninth-place finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles.  She was 12th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.52.

In the men's 400-meter hurdles, Ryan Huizenga placed 10th with a time of 1:00.73.

Craig Bailey finished seventh in the men's high jump.  He leaped with a measurement of six feet and .75 inches.

Other DSU place finishers at the Howard Wood Relays are:  Chance Clason (20th in 200-meter dash - 23.60 seconds), Kace Groff (23rd in 1500-meter run - 4:25.75) and Brittany Pearson (10th in discus throw - 120 feet and one inch and 16th in hammer throw - 124 feet and six inches - 3rd in DSU school record book).

Dakota State will compete in the final Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) Championship meet on Friday.  The meet will be held at the Lyle Hare Stadium on the campus of Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D.
