Five DSU named to Daktronics-NAIA Track & Field Scholar Athletes

Brandi GauMARION, Ind. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released its 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Track and Field Athletes after the conclusion of the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet.  Five student-athletes from Dakota State had received this prestigious honor.

A combined 645 student-athletes (406 women and 239 men) were recognized by the NAIA for their hard work in the classroom.  Student-athletes are nominated by their head coach and must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 Brittany Pearsonscale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.

The five Trojan student-athletes that received this award are (year in school - hometown - parents' name):

  • Brandi Gau - senior - Avon, S.D. - Bruce and Jacqueline Gau
  • Brittany Pearson - senior - Rosholt, S.D. - Mark and Mary Pearson
  • Amy Pheneger - senior - Champlin, Minn. - Jeff and Angie Pheneger
  •   Jerad Schlobohm - senior - Aurora, S.D. - Paul and Zelda Schlobohm 
  • Amy PhenegerStephanie Uher - junior - Mitchell, S.D. - Dean and Jeanette Uher
