DSU hosts Doane in first-ever football meeting this Saturday afternoon

THIS WEEK: The Dakota State University football team plays their second home game of the season this Saturday afternoon. The Trojans welcome Doane of the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. at Trojan Field.
THE SERIES: This Saturday's game will mark the first-ever meeting between Doane and Dakota State.
LAST WEEK: Dakota State renewed their in-state rivalry with Dakota Wesleyan at Trojan Field. The Tigers opened the game by scoring 26 straight points and defeated DSU 56-20. Doane opened their Great Plains Athletic Conference schedule on the road at Briar Cliff. The Tigers jumped to a 21-7 halftime lead and defeated the Chargers 31-14.
NAIA DAKSTATS NATIONAL RANKINGS: Two Dakota State players are ranked first in the nation as of Sept, 8, according to NAIA DakStats statistical website. DeVonte Garica leads the nation in total interceptions with two. Robert Ortiz records a total of 415 kick-off return yards to lead the nation. Dakota State ranks 18th in the nation in total pass offense yards with 319.
DSU QUICK LEADERS: Jeb Olsen leads the team in rushing with a total of 178 yards, an average of 89.0 yards per game. Brandon Large averages 159.5 passing yards with a completion percentage of 48.1. Wes Dauz leads the team with seven receptions. Three players - Bryce Logan, Joe Monize and Craig Hertz - record 21 tackles for the Trojans. Josh Licht records a quarterback sack this season for DSU.
MILITARY/EMERGENCY SERVICES PERSONNEL: All military and emergency services personnel in uniform or with an ID will be admitted free with their family to the game on Saturday afternoon.
DSU FAMILY DAY: Dakota State University will be hosting 'Family Day' on Saturday. For more information, go to www.dsu.edu.
FOOTBALL FORECAST: As the weather remains dry in the Midwest area, Saturday looks to be a perfect afternoon for Doane and Dakota State match-up. The forecast calls for a high of 83 degrees with mostly sunny skies. The forecast wind comes from the north-northeast at five to ten miles-per-hour.
DSU FOOTBALL HISTORY LESSON: Dakota State is in its 92nd year of competition. The Trojans own an all-time record of 267-442-17. DSU opened their first year of competition in 1908 with an overall record of 4-1-1.
